Did you hear about all the snow we've been getting here in Colorado? It's been an amazing white Christmas! And, of course, all the locals have been saying to recent transplants that this hasn't happened in so long. It's the truth but no one believes us.
The last time there was a blizzard like this...when the whole town shuts down was in 1997. We drove around picking up our close friends for a sleepover. We cooked filet mignons and watched a Blockbuster movie together.
This holiday, we had snow every week for a month. In fact, it's snowing right now as I write this. Our shoulders and backs hurt from shoveling, my right arm aches from throwing snowballs and my neck and legs throb from sledding. We haven't made it to the slopes yet for skiing because we've had up to two weeks of four family visitors stay with us.
It was our best Christmas break ever! Newell and I got a long so well and we understand these words "conflict resolution" like we've never known before. I cut many corners so I could still be a loving and kind wife, mom, daughter, daughter-in-law and auntie. I made Stovetop Stuffing, gravy from a powder mix and Easy Mix Pumpkin Pie filling for parts of the Christmas dinner. We didn't wrap every single stocking stuffer like we've done in years past. We didn't exchange up to 70 some Christmas cards within our 9 family members. I did write a gratitude letter for all of them to let them know how I appreciate them and tucked them in their stockings.
I look forward to what God has in store for us in the year of 2007. I, finally, am feeling the Harvest of Love that Newell and I have been preparing and plowing and planting all these years we've been together. Praise you, God, for loving us and growing in us so we can love others!
